International Facilities Services (IFS) is one of the largest and most prominent remote-site catering and camp management organisations operating in Southern and Sub-Saharan Africa, specialising in servicing clients in both the Mining and Oil & Gas sectors. We currently service some of the largest mining projects in Southern and East Africa with clients including Vulcan (Moatise), Glencore (Kamoto Copper Company and Mutanda Mining), Ivanhoe Mines (Kamoa and Kakula), and Sibanye Gold (Kloof, Beatrix and Driefontein), to name a few.

In addition to mining, we also service several clients operating within the Oil and Gas sector, with a large part of this business being focused on the LNG projects in Northern Mozambique. We are proud to confirm that we are the appointed Catering and Camp Management service provider to both Total (Mozambique LNG) and to CCS JV (Saipem, CB&I/McDermott) in respect of the Mozambique Area 1 LNG projects, prior to the suspension of these projects as a result of the unrest in the region.

We have developed a robust and effective Local Content Strategy that focuses predominantly on the following key areas:

• The recruitment and training of local communities – More than 97% of our existing workforce comprises people recruited from the surrounding rural and urban areas. It is our policy to strive to retain all existing staffing as far as possible. We also provide these staff with intensive training and skills development. Employees are developed through formal and informal training that is conducted in accordance with the training matrices and the employee’s personal development plans.
• The procurement from, and the development of, local suppliers –We work closely with local people and communities around our sites to assess and develop capacity and capability to allow them to participate in the supply of goods required to run our operations. We purchase approximately 85% of all our supplies from local suppliers in country. IFS implements various Local Development Programmes to support social and economic development in the remote communities located in the areas where we operate. This affords locals the real potential for personal and economic enrichment. Our commitment to support local development includes assistance in establishing local supply chains and procurement agreements.
• Finally, IFS recognises and embraces its corporate social involvement duties and has already and will continue to drive a vibrant CSI programme in all areas in which we operate.
